Spirit Lakes Improvement Association (SLIA) had a meeting on Saturday, January 25, 2020. We were going to install fencing and turn on the aerators. That did not happen because we felt the ice conditions weren’t safe enough.
We then discussed our February 8, 2020 Ice Fishing Jamboree. After a lot of discussion, SLIA board members present decided to cancel the “fishing” portion of the Ice Jamboree… and to call it a “Winter Picnic”. This was a tough decision because this is SLIA only major fundraiser. Our WINTER PICNIC will be held on February 8, 2020 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the SLIA shelter by the boat landing on little Spirit Lake. We will have a 50/50 raffle along with a Yeti cooler, Snurfer board and Beaver Dam tip-up package and numerous small raffles. We will be drawing the Traeger Grill at 3:00 PM. We will be serving chili and brats along with beverages. Please come and support our non-profit. Sue Mohr SLIA Treasurer

June 21st. Today is the first day of summer. I’m sorry it’s been a while since I’ve posted. Just like everyone else life gets busy. I hope you all are enjoying your time at the lakes. Please submit your pictures from summer. Our web person, Greg Walters would love to put your picture on our website.
We have a meeting tomorrow morning at 10:00 at our shelter. The agenda is listed on our website. Two things we are going to discuss are the Jim Poirier Memorial Kid’s Fishing Contest and a membership drive. EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO ATTEND. In fact, we encourage our members to attend. We are looking for volunteers to help on July 13th for our kid’s Fishing Contest. If you’ve never attended this event, you need to. We charge $3.00 for registration. With that every child gets a registration gift and a free lunch. There will be games to play also. It is a lot of fun for the kids and adults. Our membership drive is to try and get more lake owners to join our association. But, you do not have to be a home owner to be a member. Please encourage your neighbors to join the lake association. I will be at the meeting tomorrow and also the day of the Jim Poirier Memorial Kid’s Fishing day to join. Or you can mail to: SLIA, P.O. Box 246, Rib Lake, WI. 54470. We have fundraisers going at the moment. We are raffling a Traeger Grill and a Floating Oasis Water Pad. They will be at the meeting tomorrow and the Fishing Contest in July. We hope to draw them on the day of the Jim Poirier Memorial Fishing Contest. If you are interested contact me. I will set up a time and place to meet you. Thank you. Sue Mohr Spirit Lakes Improvement Association (SLIA) is getting ready for their annual Ice Fishing Jamboree. It is February 9th and it will start at 7:00 AM. All fish must be registered by 3:00 PM. 1st and 2nd place winners will be awarded in all fish categories.
SLIA will have small table raffles and a 50/50 raffle available the day of the contest. We will also have two board raffles. They are the same as last year; a Vexilar and a StrikeMaster Lithium battery ice auger. These raffles are the only fund raisers SLIA has throughout the year. They are to help pay costs, including the aerators running on both lakes. Please support them and maybe win a prize. SLIA will serve food beginning at 11:00 AM. We will be serving chicken soup, brats and hotdogs. Refreshments include beer, pop and water. We are looking for people to help the day before and the day of the contest. If you are able to help, please contact a board member or myself. Let's hope the weather is great and we see you at the shelter. Also, there is a FREE ice fishing weekend in Wisconsin on 1/19 and 1/20. Sorry it's been awhile. Life is busy on the lake....
The winner of the musky fish pole is Candi Chesbrough. She did not give us her phone number or address. So, if you know Candi, please tell her to contact myself or another board member to claim her prize. We have two more boards circulating. They will be at the Jim Poirier Memorial Kid's Fishing Contest if you are interested. The Jim Poirier Memorial Kid's Fishing Contest will be held on July 14th. This is a great event for your kids or grandkids. We have posters out around town. If you have the day free, we are always looking for volunteers to help. It truly is a fun day. The Rib Lake Fireworks are scheduled for July 3rd. And, Mohr's Fireworks are scheduled for July 7th. Enjoy the rest of your summer. The winner of the Vexilar is Todd LaBrec of Westboro, WI. And, the winner of ice auger is Bob Zocher from Athens, WI. Thank you to everyone who purchased a square. We will be having another board over the summer. If you have an idea of what you would like to see us raffle, please leave a comment.
We have filled our two winter board raffles. We will draw the winners on Saturday, March 17th at the shelter near the boat landing. We have a regular board meeting scheduled for that day. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The results of the Ice Fishing Jamboree are on our website.
We still have a couple of open spots on the board raffles. If you're interested in purchasing a square, please contact us through the website, our e-mail or our Facebook page. They are $20 per square. Our goal is to have them sold and draw the winner at our March 17th board meeting. Anyone is welcome to attend our meetings. They are usually held at the shelter. I saw someone plowing a road across the little lake. I don't know who you were, but thank you. Get out and enjoy the weather this weekend... It's suppose to be great! Per Kendal Patrie of the DNR our "Oxygen levels are looking great on both of the lakes." They will be back on March 5th to check them again. Stay tuned for updates on the Ice Jamboree from Saturday.
On Saturday, February 10, 2018 will be the Spirit Lakes Improvement Associations (SLIA) annual ice fishing jamboree. It will run from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. All fish must be registered by 3:00 PM. We will award for 1st and 2nd place in all fish categories.
We will serve food and drinks at the shelter again. We will serve chili and chicken dumpling soup, along with burgers and brats. We will have coffee, hot chocolate, pop, juice, water and beer to drink. Our large raffles this year will be our board raffles. As explained in the past, we cannot advertise what these are on the internet per Wisconsin gaming. We have three boards at this time; one from fall and two for the contest. Once they are full we will draw a name. If you would like to see or purchase a square, they are all at Lil J & D’s across from the boat landing on Spirit Lake. They will all be at the shelter on the day of the fishing contest. We will have a 50/50 raffle. Tickets will be sold the day of the contest for $1 each or 6 for $5. There will be one winner who will win half the money. The drawing will be held approximately at 3:30 PM at the boat landing shelter after the all the fish prizes have been awarded. If you aren’t going to be present we ask you to write your name and phone number on the tickets. We will also have some small raffles. These tickets will also be sold the day of the contest also. They will also be $1 each or 6 for $5. You need to be present to win these prizes. If you aren’t present, please write your name and phone number on the ticket. We are looking to update our clothing. So, all of our existing T-shirts and sweatshirts will be discounted. They will be out the day of the contest. Please come out and support our great event. We are always looking for new members. It’s only $30 per year. Our year goes from May 1st to April 30th. Please note, you do NOT have to live on the lake to belong to SLIA. We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday… Sue Mohr / Treasurer of SLIA |
