My name is Sue Mohr. I live on the small lake. I'm going to try and keep up on this blog.
Taylor County opened the snowmobile trails on Friday. We are seeing a lot of ice fishing on the lake. It appears people are driving through the channel now. Yesterday the Spirit Lake Improvement Association put up the fencing for the aerators. So, please be aware and careful around them.

Hi everyone. I'm Tom Schuh From Hannah's Hen House and I will be helping with updates on lake conditions fishing reports. If you have any questions, please me know.
Right now fishing has been slower during the day, great at sunrise and sunset .A few nice musky caught and released . Kiosk with life vest also has had a lot of use. Remember please hang up vest After use. Water temp staying around 83 degrees . Water is starting to turn green. Reply to question about water level. As of today the lake is at a good water level. It is actually lower than at ice out. We have gotten 2-3" of rain in the last few days. If we get much more rain i would expect high water levels.
I have finally thawed out from the long winter. It looks like the lakes survived just fine I did not notice any dead fish this spring and haven't heard any reports of such. It was a long aeration season as the aerators ran close to 80 days making it costly this past year. The Crappie and Bluegill are biting. Please use the forum page to post your fishing reports or other topics of your choice. See you on the lakes!
Well it was very dry summer and the lakes water level was the lowest I've ever seen. It did seem like the alage blooms this year were not as bad this year. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this. The water level has come up a little the past couple of weeks but is lower than last year. I expect the rain today will raise the water level some more.
Well we were having a nice warm winter with little snow, that is until this past Tuesday. I measured 18" of wet heavy snow. The people who were doing the plowing had real problems. Trying to push it with the normal plow on a truck just put the plow truck off the driveway so that the best chance to clear the snow was using a frontend loader and there were still problems getting stuck because it was so wet and icy under the snow.
It was cold and windy for the ice fishing jamboree but we still had a very good turnout. thanks to those who helped ot that day and Went out on the lakes for a 4-wheeler ride. There are a lot of people out on a beautiful day! Ice thickness is around 13". Conditions for getting around on the ice are excellent. It looks like fishermen are catching Crappies. Both aerator fences have been put up and the aerators wll be started after we get results of DNR oxygen level tests. The Ice Fishing Jamboree will be Feb.11th. Remember to get your raffle tickets!
It is a sunny morning 35 degrees at 9 am. There is a quite a bit of skim ice on the lake this morning. We did get a little snow this past week and yes there is still some in the woods. Iv'e been watching the bridge project and I think there is a good chance it will be open before Thanksgiving.
Let's hear from you! Jim |
